Make Do Mend London

London's Make Do Mend

Crafty chic hen 'do
UK reader Isabel put me on to Make Do Mend: apparently crafty hen ‘dos and baby showers are taking place in London hot spots such as Covent Garden’s The Hospital Club (below).
Surely only a matter of time before the trend catches on here?

Tea and crochet with Make Do Mend

High tea and craft... a match made in heaven

Wonderfully creative and interesting things like this are already happening in the Swich (Ipswich Qld). We have lots of shops selling handmade goodies, craft clubs and lessons, coffee shops, high teas and a vibrant community of women who appreciate design, recycling, repurposing and learning. The chatting and networking is also a highlight. Stop by some time, I’d be happy to show you around.
I’d love to, Angela – will definitely be heading to Ipswich next time I’m in QLD…
I will report back after the hen party at MakeDoMend. We will be making a quilt for my sister who is getting married. I am going to try and get some of the fabric from her dress to stitch into the quilt. If anyone has any other ideas of things we can include, let me know!
Isabel, that is such a lovely idea (the whole quilt idea, as well as the material from her dress). I guess there might be other related fabric you could include as well – such as the bridesmaids’ dress fabric?
Hi there!
Do you know if there is anywhere in Melbourne that does these craft/tea/chat type things?
I would love to go to one and I know loads of folks who would be up for it.
Thanks!
Yours in craft,
Ash
