Le Crafty Minx & a film giveaway

How my heart feels
Last night I received the most exciting email from my Australian publishers, Murdoch Books: The Crafty Minx is being translated by Marabout, and will be published in France next April. En Francais!!!
If you’ve read the books or been following the blog for a while, you might have an inkling of quite how much this means to me. Mon Dieu, I’m over the moon, fit to burst, and every other overused cliche today. Words cannot describe – here’s a photo I took while staying in our rented French farmhouse in July, which just about covers it.
In honour of the news, I’m running a giveaway with Hopscotch Films to see Gainsbourg, the much-anticipated new film about Gallic national treasure and superstar, Serge Gainsbourg. Post a comment here about your favourite Frenchy thing – I have in-season passes to post to 5 x lucky winners. Entries close Friday 5 November.

Serge, you rock

That is just the most fantastic news – I’m so pleased for you. What are they going to call it?
Thanks Georgina, and no idea! Your French is better than mine, have a crack at it… what do you reckon?
Congrats, Kelly! Just fabulous. Ooh, where to start? I did a post on all things French at http://lifeonplanetbaby.blogspot.com/2010/10/what-makes-my-heart-sing-all-things.html so take your pick! J x
That is the best news! Well done my clever friend! Does that mean you should be doing a trip to Paris for book signings!!! Jess xx
my favourite Frenchy thing is Emmanuel on Poh’s Kitchen on Ch 2. Especially the way he says ‘extra virgin olive oil’!!
My most favourite thing is the Eiffel Tower – on our honeymoon in Paris my husband gave me a big kiss directly underneath its centre… in front of hundreds of tourists! Such happy memories!
Oh, wouldn’t that be lovely? It’s certainly an excuse to start planning another holiday! xx
My favourite French thing? My partner’s sister and niece who live in Biarritz. We miss them so much!
Well, I’m a French translator so I guess my favourite Frenchy thing would have to be the language. And then of course there’s the cheese…
Such fabulous news. Well done, you. Favourite French thing: our holiday this summer
I’d have to say my favourite thing would have to be french pastries. Croissants, Chocolate Eclairs, all so delish.
As a mosaic artist I would have to say my favourite French thing would have to be “La Maison Picassiette”. I have not had the good fortune to see this but one man has left behind a house and garden covered with broken crockery (my favourite thing!),not 50 miles from Paris.
My favourite french thing is the macaroon, small, sweet, delicate, perfect with a cup of tea and comes in delectable colours and flavours.
That is very exciting – congratulations!
My favourite Frenchy thing would be a plethora of cheese varieties, and French perfume, oui oui!
Hello, Congratulations on your French translation. My favourite Frenchy things are:
Brigitte Bardot, Chanel Rouge Coco lipstick and Coco Perfume, Serge Gainsbourgh, Vanessa Paradis, Jean Cocteau and his genius. All the memories of my two trips to France. An old man on a train slowly peeling an egg, the smile and joy on the Madame’s face when she spotted her mad Australians on their second trip, strangers who approached up to offer help in Paris when we were lost. The laughter from French maids and service staff as we attempted to speak French. The stylish little dogs in the streets. The veil of beauty and poetry that hangs over the city. The knowledge that you are treading in the same streets as so many great artists of our history. There are so many things I do love about the French and French culture.
It’s so great that craft is being recognised. My favourite French thing is their appreciation of art.
Looks like a terrific book and well done you. We will be stocking up on it for Christmas pressies, bien sûr. My favourite french thing? Châteauneuf-du-Pape would probably edge it.
French Knickers, especially home made!
Congrats on the publication. When is the Canberra event? it is not listed on the events page. Thanks.
Well done having your book published en francais. I particularly love Jane Birkin who I always associate with Serge. For me she evokes memories of the swinging 60s in London. Congratulations for all your successes Kelly.
It’s Sat 13 Nov… just waiting on the details from the bookseller and will pop them up on the site asap! x
